ATTENTION CONTRACTORS AND OWNERS!!

“Ironworker Qualified Rigger and Signalman

Training Invitational”

 

The District Council of Ironworkers of the State of California and Vicinity in conjunction with the Ironworkers Management Progressive Action Cooperative Trust (IMPACT) and the Western Steel Council (WSC) would like to extend an invitation for your company participate in the “Ironworker Qualified Rigger and Signalman Training Invitational” on October 7, 2010 at the Ironworker Regional Training Facility in LaPalma, California.

 

The purpose of this special event is to provide an opportunity company owners, project managers, and company safety representatives to observe and evaluate the Ironworkers Qualified Rigger and Signalman Training Program that was developed in accordance with federal and state regulatory agencies, and national consensus standards.  Joe Standley, Labor Co-Chair of and Dave McEuen, Management Co-Chair of the IMPACT Regional Advisory Board IX will welcome company owners, project managers, and company safety representatives during a luncheon address at 12:00 noon.

Classroom instruction on regulatory requirements for rigging and crane signaling will be provided by qualified Ironworker instructors.  Participants will receive “hands-on” instruction on common rigging techniques and safety inspection criteria.  Following are some of the topics that will be provided during this event.

 

Ironworker Qualified Rigger & Signalman Training Topics

 


·         Determining loads for hoisting

·         Calculating sling angles

·         Wire rope and rigging inspection

·         Proper crane signals

·         Regulatory responsibilities

·         Role of qualified and competent person

·         Critical lifts

·         Certification of completion

·         Written examinations

·         Live crane usage for signal training
